UVa II Filter
Protects against damage and dirt

The UVa II filter protects the front elements of the lens against scratches, marks and dirt. At the same time, the new multicoating and significantly improved optical parameters make it possible to preserve full imaging quality, even in unfavourable lighting conditions. Thanks to an additional thread, the UVa II filter can also be used in combination with other filters, and acts as permanent protection for your valuable filters, too.

The Leica filters for the Leica M system are made of optically pure glass, parallel plane ground and precisely annealed, so the full performance of the Leica M lenses is retained even with a filter attached. The range is purposely limited to the filters most commonly needed in photographic practice: The UVa filter primarily performs the role of protecting the front element of the lens, and can be left permanently attached. The circular polarization filter eliminates disturbing reflections on non-metallic surfaces, and helps to increase contrast as well as provide richer color reproduction.
A characteristic of polarization filters is that they show the same effect after each 180-degree rotation. The polarization filter for the Leica M is thus supplied with an adapter with a swivel fitting, allowing it to be rotated 180 degrees to in front of the viewfinder so you can assess and control its effect before taking the shot.

Capture motion
Time exposure is essential for capturing and reproducing the flowing motion of subjects, such as waterfalls. The neutral density filter (ND) enables this even in sunlight by reducing the amount of light entering the lens to allow longer shutter speeds to be used. Colour rendition remains unaffected and undesirable reflections in contre jour exposures are prevented. In addition to this, the ND filter allows the use of larger apertures for capturing photos and videos with shallower depth of field.
