The Hasselblad H-system features a total of 11 central shutter lenses with focal lengths from 28 to 300mm. As the S2 features a dual shutter system users may toggle between the focal plane shutter
(FPS) in the camera body or the central shutter (CS) in the lens using the main switch photographers now have access to numerous additional lenses, increasing the photographic options offered by the Leica
S-System. Users of the Hasselblad H-system also benefit from the new adapter. The versatility of Hasselblad H
lenses is expanded considerably when they are used in combination with an S2. For instance, thanks to the dual shutter system of the Leica S2, H lenses can be now used with the focal plane shutter at speeds
of up to 1/4000 of a second. In combination with the Leica Maestro high-performance image processor, the camera?s image sensor enables perfect, noise-free exposures up to ISO 1250.

The Leica Vario-Elmar-S 30?90 mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. has the same imaging characteristics as a 24?72 mm zoom lens in 35 mm format. It combines a universally versatile range of focal lengths, compact construction and low weight with extraordinarily high imaging performance throughout the entire focusing range to ensure extremely flexible and fatigue-free photography, particularly important for longer sessions.

With its impressive angle of view of 107?, this new TRI-ELMAR conquers 16 mm super wide-angle photography in perfect Leica M style. Due to the minimal distortion and barely perceptible field curvature, it can be recommended for highly demanding architecture photography even at the 16 mm setting. Used on the digital M8, it produces the image effect of a 21 - 28 mm lens, still enabling extreme wide-angle views. The ultra compact shape is achieved by two aspherical elements. A new design of the interior focusing significantly enhances the quality in the close-focus range through an adaption of the floating element principle. Brilliant field depth can therefore be used from a distance of 0.33 m for hyperfocal photography.

The Leica Summarit-S 35mm f/2.5 ASPH Lens is a classical wide angle lens with high optical performance. Two aspherical lenses together with special highly refractive glass with atypical partial dispersion, yields excellent sharpness and contrast throughout the image field. This reference-class lens displays consistently high image performance utilizing an inner focusing system with a floating element.

This lens displays maximum performance across the entire image field at all apertures. With a broad effective range of focus (minimum distance of 21.65' (55cm), it is possible to produce unusual and attractive compositions. With Leica's high-degree of lens precision there is almost no discernable vignetting, distortion and chromatic aberrations. Thus, images don't require a large amount of post-production corrections.
