Leica Camera has introduced a next-generation model of its classic M lenses:
the Leica Summicron-M 35 mm f/2 ASPH.each delivering enhanced image performance and quality, thanks to their new optical design.

The impressive Summicron-M 35 mm f/2 ASPH. fast, classic prime lens delivers superior image performance and a unique bokeh. Despite its high speed and exceptional image quality, its dimensions are astoundingly compact. Furthermore, with its eleven blade iris, this new generation lens creates a circular aperture, lending out of focus areas an extremely smooth look and feel. Images are pin-sharp with rich contrast, and almost completely free from distortion with superb bokeh at all apertures and distances and even when shooting wide open.

The ten lens elements are divided into five groups; three elements feature aspherical surfaces (one of them on both sides). Six elements are made of glasses with anomalous partial dispersion, which not only reduce chromatic aberrations to almost zero, but also provide apochromatic correction ?a quality that is rarely found in lenses of this focal length.

The tried and well-proven optical design of this lens provides for a perfection of picture quality extending all the way to the extreme corners of the image field even at full aperture, as well as outstanding contrast throughout, at all apertures, even at close distances. Stopping down to f/2.8 or f/4 brings only a minimal increase in contrast. Distortion is extremely low and practically invisible. Its well-balanced design makes this ideal standard lens an outstanding choice in terms of all criteria, including image quality, speed, size, weight and price. It is also available in combination with the LEICA M7 as part of the entry-level set.

The LEICA NOCTILUX-M 50 mm f/0.95 ASPH. is not only a unique high-performance lens in the M system. It combines extremely high speed with imaging performance that can easily bear comparison with the other top lenses currently on the market. It is made of high-quality materials and intricately assembled by hand at the Solms factory to give a particularly reliable product that will retain its value for decades. The extremely shallow depth of field at open aperture produces portraits and detailed studies of unequalled aesthetic effect. The result is outstanding image quality, comparable to the Leica Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH., which is considered the best standard lens ever produced. Even the light from one candle can be sufficient for handheld photography.

Unlike previous Silver chrome lenses, due to awareness of weight the Noctilux 50mm 0.95 and Summilux 35mm 1.4 in Silver Chrome are Aluminium based lenses, mirroring their Black Chrome counterparts.

This compact, fast, short telephoto lens is acclaimed for its excellent image quality at maximum aperture and over the full focusing range from infinity to minimum distance. The speed of this powerful lens allows to single out a sharp detail on a blurred background. Still, the lens offers a natural angle of view that can not be achieved with 90mm telephoto lenses.

This compact lens uses all of today?s technical possibilities to achieve high speed and remarkable imaging quality. It features aspherical surfaces, special glass types with partial anomalous dispersion and floating elements. It is the ideal lens for delivering intimate views of scenes, nature, landscapes and people, whether at infinity or at close-focus range.

Apochromatic colour correction and an aspherical lens surface are combined for the first time in this lens of this type. Of its five individual elements, two are made of high-refraction glass, while two others feature anomalous partial dispersion. Its brilliance and quality of resolution are exemplary even at full aperture. Light falloff is very low. Its fast aperture, for a 90mm lens, lets you shoot at relatively short exposure times even in dim light, helping to minimise the effects of camera shake, for instance when photographing street scenes from a distance.
